The Co-axial escapement obtains a level of efficiency superior to that of the lever escapement while maintaining reliability and accuracy. The white rhodium-plated movement is finished with wave-patterning, circular-graining and gold-plated engraving. The continuous seconds subdial (at 9), has an intriguing 'railway-track' design that offers improved clarity. It utilizes a double-arc design; the inner arc measures the first 30 seconds and the outer arc the remaining time. Seconds are read off using just one double-tipped blued-steel hand - when the smaller arm is rotating along the rail-arc, the initial 30-seconds are being timed. When the longer skeletonized arm is visible, the latter 30-seconds are being measured. The unique date aperture is displayed in the unusual position of 11 oclock. The 3-day continuous date window allows for accurate date reading even when the present day is obscured by the minute hand - since the previous and following dates, though partially covered, remain visible. The De Ville Co-Axial Rattrapante is presented on a black high-gloss stitched alligator strap with a fold-over steel clasp. SuperLuminova-coated tips ensure night-time visibility.
